Bloomberg Proposes Cutting Child Care
Posted By: Bill Thompson Team on 06-03-09
Today the City announced a plan to cut 3,000 child care vouchers. These vouchers are essential for working families, yet Bloomberg has once again shown a startling willingness to balance the budget by targeting those that can least afford it.
As Betty Holcomb, Policy Dierctor at Child Care, Inc., said ""Early childhood services are the best two-generation, anti-poverty program ever invented. Children prepare to succeed in school and parents can make it to work."
Bill Thompson believes that this is exactly the type of program that furthers education and helps working families. Needless to say, the Comptroller is vigorously opposing the Administration from cutting this program.
