Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. Endorses Bill Thompson

Yesterday we wrote that the Thompson team was growing every day. If you needed any more proof: Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. just endorsed Bill Thompson for Mayor.

The Borough President's resounding endorsment indicates the growing support and enthusiam for Bill Thompson:

“I consider myself lucky to count Bill Thompson as one of my friends, and I know he is the best choice for the next mayor of New York City,” said Bronx Borough President Diaz, Jr. “As comptroller, Bill has been a tireless watchdog of government waste, bringing more accountability to our City’s finances, and has been a national leader in the fight against predatory mortgage leaders. Bill has the knowledge and the temperament to be a strong leader for all New Yorkers and I urge not just Bronxites, but residents of all five boroughs, to support my friend Bill Thompson for mayor.”

Bill Thompson told an enthusiastic crowd of over 100 that he was proud to have Diaz's support, and didn't mince words when it came to New York's current leadership:

“Bloomberg’s failed campaign promises and an empty five borough plan are not resonating in the outer boroughs. You have been over-taxed, and ignored for too long and it has to end. I will fight for you.”

Not only are we thrilled to have Ruben Diaz on board, but we're excited to use his leadership to help communicate to the Bronx and New York's Latino community. Bill Thompson is going keep fighting every day to make City Hall once again work for everyday New Yorkers.
