Former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer Endorses Bill Thompson at Puerto Rican Day Parade

Today, former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer endorsed Bill Thompson.  Ferrer said "New York City needs Bill Thompson because he cares about working families, he cares about the struggling middle class, he cares about the parents and kids in our public school system.  He’ll create good paying jobs, he’ll build more affordable housing and he’ll ensure that every child receives a quality education. I am proud to stand with Bill Thompson and endorse him for mayor. New Yorkers want a mayor who understands the needs of everyone in every borough and Bill Thompson will be that mayor."

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. reiterated his support for Thompson saying "I consider myself lucky to count Bill Thompson as one of my friends, and I know he is the best choice for the next mayor of New York City. As comptroller, Bill has been a tireless watchdog of government waste, bringing more accountability to our City’s finances, and has been a national leader in the fight against predatory mortgage leaders. Bill has the knowledge and the temperament to be a strong leader for all New Yorkers and I urge not just Bronxites, but residents of all five boroughs, to support my friend Bill Thompson for mayor."

Thompson thanked Ferrer, Diaz and the other elected officials standing with him. "It's an honor to have the support of my friend Freddy Ferrer and to stand united with the Latino Community and Democrats throughout New York as we fight for hard working New Yorkers, small businesses, for the outer boroughs and working families who have been ignored for too long. Together, we can take back the city."
