Last weekend in front of churchgoers at the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans, State Senator Malcolm Smith (D-14) made a strong case for supporting Bill Thompson for Mayor.
During the event, which was sponsored by the Southeast Queens Clergy for Political Awareness, Smith urged the crowd to bring as many people as they could to the polls and vote.
Smith further said that Mayor Bloomberg’s millions of dollars doesn’t matter, because he had the support of the people of Queens.
“People always count us out, it’s not going to happen,” Smith said. “But over, and over, and over again, we take care of our business.”
Additionally, Senator Smith also used Bill’s performance as comptroller as a reason why he will be a great mayor.
“We are advocating for Bill Thompson because he is for us,” Smith said. “Make no bones about it, when we call down to the Comptroller’s office Bill Thompson answers that phone. You want someone that is going to answer that phone.”
