Citywide Clergy Endorse Bill Thompson for Mayor

In a showing of the strong support Bill Thompson has across New York City, many clergy members joined with Bill today at City Hall to announce their endorsement of his 2009 mayoral campaign. Among those who stood with Bill were clergy from congregations both large and small, and leadership from various clergy organizations throughout the city, including the Latino Pastoral Action Center, the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Greater New York & Vicinity, and the Bronx Clergy Task force.

LGBT Community Endorses Bill Thompson

Yesterday, Bill was thrilled to receive endorsements from five of the largest LGBT clubs in New York City, as well as the backing of more than 100 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender New Yorkers. Bill was proud to stand with the LGBT community and reaffirm his longtime support of marriage equality and equal rights for all New Yorkers.

Former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer Endorses Bill Thompson at Puerto Rican Day Parade

Today, former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer endorsed BillThompson.  Ferrer said "New York City needs Bill Thompson because hecares about working families, he cares about the struggling middleclass, he cares about the parents and kids in our public schoolsystem."

New York Workers Coming Together To Support Bill Thompson

Two unions representing over 18,000 New York workers officially endorsed Bill Thompson for Mayor in 2009 today.  We're proud to have the support of the International Association of Machinists District 15 and Local 94 of the International Union of Operating Engineers -- and will keep working to make sure New York has Mayor who fights for interests of working families.

Mike Bloomberg Refusing to Answer Questions

Yesterday, a reporter asked Mayor Bloomberg a perfectly reasonable question. Instead of answering it, Mayor Bloomberg deflected it -- and then, under his breath, looked at the reporter and called him a "disgrace." You have to see it to believe it.

Errol Louis: The race for City Hall has only just begun

Over at the Daily News, Errol Louis writes that while Mike Bloomberg has already poured millions of dollars into this race, the Mayor is vulnerable to a strong challenge from Bill Thompson: "The biggest misconception about this year's citywide elections is that Mayor Bloomberg has a third term all sewn up.  Don't believe the hype."

Where’s the Beef?  Bloomberg jobs plan lacks substance

Over at City Hall News Andrew Hawkins posted an interesting piece that pokes a lot of holes in Mike Bloomberg's economic plan. It looks like another example of the Mayor favoring flashy commercials and glossy brochures over substantive ideas and frank conversation with New York voters.
