Bill Stands With Council of NYCHA Tenants, Grand Council of Hispanic Societies in Public Service

This afternoon Bill Thompson picked up a big endorsement from one citizen activist group, while standing in support of another.

First Bill was joined by Assembly Member Rosie Mendez, Council Member Letitia James and Reggie Bowman, President of the Citywide Council of NYCHA Tenant Association Presidents, in support of public housing tenants across New York City.

Citing his commitment to public housing in the city, the 400,000 member tenant group, the largest in New York City endorsed Bill while slamming Mayor Bloomberg for neglecting residents over the last eight years.

Following that event, Bill was endorsed by the Grand Council of Hispanic Societies in Public Service, Inc. in a conference on the steps of City Hall today.

The organization’s President Debra Martinez lauded Bill, noting his help and support for the group over the past eight years, “not just in the past few days.”

“[Thompson] honors the contracts that have been negotiated, cares that our schools provide an education to all our children, our pensions are protected, and our city is a safe place to work and live,” the Council wrote in a press release.
