LGBT Community Endorses Bill Thompson

Yesterday, Bill was thrilled to receive endorsements from five of the largest LGBT clubs in New York City, as well as the backing of more than 100 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender New Yorkers. Bill was proud to stand with the LGBT community and reaffirm his longtime support of marriage equality and equal rights for all New Yorkers.

Among the groups that endorsed Bill yesterday were the Gay and Lesbian Independent Democrats (GLID), the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, the Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn, Out People of Color Political Action Club and the Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City. Also standing with Bill and the LGBT community were New York City Council Member Rosie Mendez and Assembly Members Micah Kellner, Deborah Glick and Dan O’Donnell.

Richard Allman, President of the Stonewall Democrats called Bill the “best of the best of allies” of the LGBT community:
“His commitment to LGBT empowerment does not waver or weaken with the weather. With great Pride, Stonewall Democratic Club is proud to have mayoral candidate Bill Thompson at the head of the most talented and diverse slates of candidates in modern NYC history.”
Zachary Woolfe, President of GLID, also praised Bill's support for the LBGT community saying:
“GLID is proud to be supporting Bill Thompson. His progressive vision for our city and clear, consistent support for LGBT rights will make him a wonderful mayor for every New Yorker.”
Bill Thompson believes that anything less than full equality for everyone is unacceptable. Bill knows what an essential role the LGBT community has always played in New York city - and he is ready to fight for them them in the Mayor's office just as proudly as he stands with them today.
